We know that ours is a world composed of only 3 dimensions; why this is so has baffled physicists and mathematicians and they have tried to prove the existence of other dimensions. Time has been accepted as a 4th dimension as you can theoretically move into the past and into the future. Frankly, physicists have run out of ideas for extra dimensions so even gravity along with mass has been taken as one. Different universes consistent with the 'many world interpretation' of quantum theory have been considered where in every universe, every possible eventuality occurs which supplements the idea of parallel universes. From a mathematical standpoint, this concept exists. Suppose you have a rectangular strip of paper and glue two ends of it together, you get a cylinder. If you then twist the cylinder you get a Mobius strip. This is unique as it has only one edge and one surface, both continuous. Now if you glue two Mobius strips along their edges you get a Klein bottle. However the Klein bottle cannot exist in 3 dimensions without the paper itself tearing. Other examples are the Penrose triangle and the Penrose steps(used in the movie, 'Inception') along with the Necker cube. These are impossible figures and sort of 'cheat' normal geometry. M theory also is only possible in 10 dimensions! Gravity, one of the most baffling forces in the cosmos is the weakest of the four fundamental forces. However, what scientists have found out is that at very small scales and energies, the magnitude of the electromagnetic force and gravity is the same, it simply changes over increase in magnitude. The theory is that the power of gravity is distributed over other invisible dimensions. All these concepts hint at the existence of other dimensions and even other more evolved beings. Also, a series of shapes have been postulated which occupy 4 dimensions such as the octaplex, the hypercube etc.
